Gary G. Pan

Candidate for Delegate for the Virginia’s 34th District

Gary has been a resident of Northern Virginia for more then 30 years.  He and his family have lived in the Virginia’s 34th House of Delegates District for over 20 years.

Following graduation from Weston High School in Weston, Massachusetts, Gary earned a BS in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Legal Studies from Lehigh University.

After his graduation from Lehigh, Gary moved to Northern Virginia to gain valuable experience in the government consulting industry.  He has led two successful small businesses that have been recognized by Inc. Magazine as among the 100 fastest growing private companies in America.  While working full-time and raising his young family, Gary earned his MBA with a concentration in International Management from the Pamplin School at Virginia Tech.  Demonstrating his belief that it is important to continue to learn and grow, and to further his understand how to effectively move organizations forward, Gary completed his coursework towards a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership at the University of Phoenix.

Throughout Gary’s career he has been passionate about investing in our youth and our community.  Gary has been an active adult volunteer for many years in youth athletic and leadership programs.  He has also served as a leader for many civic organizations in our community.

Gary has served as a Boy Scouts Scoutmaster and uniformed adult leader for more than 14 years for Troop 55 and Venturing Crew 364, both of Great Falls, Virginia.  He has recently founded an all-girl Scout Troop in order to enable girls to benefit from the Boy Scout program.  During the Summer of 2018, Gary led a group of ten scouts on the Eagle Scouts Cycling Across America trek on a 4,100-mile, two-month bike trip from Seattle, WA to Washington DC.  In 2017, in appreciation of his years of work preparing local youth for a life with moral, character and leadership skills, Gary was awarded Scouting’s highest adult leader recognition, the Silver Beaver.

In addition to his work with Scouting, Gary serves as a founder and Camp Director for the Wolf Trap First Time Campers Program.  This semi-annual multi-level learning opportunity provides underserved 5th and 6th boys and girls from throughout Fairfax County with a unique camping experience where campers gain skills, confidence and self-reliance through camping, nature, and the great outdoors.  In recognition of Gary’s hard work in support of local youth, he was honored as the 2017 VolunteerFairfax Volunteer of the Year and the Wolf Trap First Time Campers Program was acknowledged as the 2017 VolunteerFairfax Youth Program of the Year.

Gary is an active business leader and community advocate.  He has served on the boards of numerous local organizations such as the Great Falls Citizen Association, Great Falls Grange Foundation, Rotary Club of Great Falls, Northern Virginia Technology Council, Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts, National Multiple Sclerosis Society of the National Capital Area, the Entrepreneur Center @ NVTC, and Junior Achievement of Great Washington.  In his leadership role, Gary has worked with state and local officials to further the interests of our local citizens.  For his dedication and accomplishments, Gary was recognized by the Dranesville Board of Supervisor, John Foust, as a Lord Fairfax Honoree in 2017.  In addition, Gary was a recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award in 2014 and 2019 for his impact in bettering our community.

Gary has been married since 1992 to his wife, Wendy, who is equally committed to giving back to the community. Their three sons, Garrett, Wesley and Mitchell, are all Eagle Scouts.  Garrett recently earned two Master of Science degree (Bio-Engineering and Applied Information Technology) from George Mason University.  Wesley is currently a pre-med student at Virginia Tech where he also serves in the Corps of Cadets and is on the Rugby team.  Mitchell is a Naval ROTC Mechanical/Aeronautical engineering student at Penn State where he competes nationally on the alpine ski race team.  Gary and Wendy have resided in Northern Virginia for over 30 years and Great Falls, Virginia been the Pan family home for over 20 years.
